Do you feel tired all the time? I know this is a HUGE struggle for me. I never have enough energy to get through my day. I work outside the home full time 5 days a week and with two young children I also work 7 days a week as a mother! Our schedules are so crazy with sports and other extracurricular activities that I feel like I have totally abandoned my role as a homemaker. Not only is time an issue, but when I do have the time, mentally and physically I have nothing left to give and my house shows it! And just so you know, being tired all the time is not normal! Huh could have fooled me! So then how do I not feel tired ALL THE TIME?! Here are 6 simple strategies that I have found to be helpful in beginning to fight fatigue:
- Exercise – Every little bit of movement helps even if you only can spare 10-15 minutes a day. I personally find benefit in Pilates and Yoga routines.
- Eat right – It’s so important to get your greens in. I try to have some type of green at every meal for example sauteed spinach with my eggs at breakfast, a salad at lunch, and broccoli with my protein at dinner. But I’ll be honest this is tough for me with our schedules and I do fall back on convenience foods, especially if I’m TIRED!
- Reduce Caffeine and alcohol – What?!! Noooo…. coffee is my life fuel lol! Herbal tea is a nice alternative to coffee and still gives the warming comfort!
- Stay Hydrated – Not drinking enough water decreases your body’s energy supply. My work just installed new drinking fountains that have a water bottle filling station which has boosted my water intake and I don’t have to lug it in from home!
- Nutritional Supplements – I have found the benefit in taking high quality nutritional supplements that give me extra vitamins and minerals that I know I can’t possibly get through diet alone…There’s just not enough time and I’m too TIRED! My staple supplements are fish oil, multivitamin, magnesium, and probiotics.
- Decrease Stress – Ok sure! I will get right on that! Life is stressful and it’s hard to decrease stress in today’s world, but I know I do feel better when I find some down time to do something for me that is relaxing. My go to is sitting down with a good cup of java and reading or crocheting (I know, I know I need to decrease the caffeine, but it’s SOOOO hard!).
These are some great starting tips for increasing energy. Please like or comment if you found value in this post.
